THX XFIT WOD 2011

This year I joined the ranks of people whose lives have been transformed by CrossFit and Paleo in more ways than I could recall. Not only my health and strength transformed, but my business, relationships and energy in all aspects of life. Beyond my CrossFit life lessons that I get to apply everywhere I am certainly in better shape than I was even when running marathons or doing high school sports. It is amazing what a 6-month CrossFit journey could do… I’m so looking forward to an even more amazing 2012 of Elite Fitness.

Year Wrap-Up

Today’s rest day and the last rushed conference calls had me reflecting on my most rewarding year in many respects. Great family, business that rocks, world-class fitness and fantastic friends I got to make around the world… 2011 turned out to be a great baseline from which to launch an outstanding 2012… Looking forward to it!

DEN -> PHL

There is no quick way of getting from Vail Valley to Philly especially if one has to drive through Vail Pass. 3 hours to Denver Airport, total travel with checking and luggage takes another 6… Then again, I wouldn’t trade the skiing days for staying at home. For super busy travel days here is my standby 5-minute no-excuses workout:

5-minute Travel WOD
– 100 pushups
– 100 situps
TIME: 5:02

Hoping for Snow

Today’s Vail Valley Times said it all on their cover. Everyone loves sunny skiing but after 9 days we could use some snow… We did have our final winter ski day with great black runs on Grouse Mountain. All in all we should be back next year…

WOD “Apres Ski”
21-15-9 for time:
– shoulder presses 70lbs
– pushups
– GHD situps
TIME: 5:08

Skiing and Tabatas

We’ve gotten used to the spring skiing conditions at Beaver Creek – sunny, warm, icy and no new snow. The runs are at least fast and still fun. One more such day before heading back East… Eating Paleo has been quite a challenge in Beaver Creek as almost everything comes on a bun or on a pile of pasta or fries. Two of the restaurants had only one kind of vegetable to substitute their starch: asparagus. Needless to say, I ate a lot of asparagus this week…

Strength
– Bench Press 1-1-1-1-1   – 200 lbs
Skills
– Handstand Pushups – 15 (kip)
– Double Unders 5 x 4 DU (getting there…)
WOD “Tabata Half”
[8 x 20sec on, 10sec off]
– Tabata pushups  – total: 140, min: 15
– Tabata situps  – total: 108, min: 12
[Tabatas are always harder than they look…]
