Will ESPN2 help make CrossFit mainstream?

There is a lot of excitement about the prime time series on CrossFit on ESPN2. I had to miss the webcast on the games in the summer as I was vacationing on the internet-challenged Croatian coast at the time. I will be great to relive the events as most of us do many of the same events week in week out (with less intensity I must add).

I’m all for going mainstream! I fired up my TiVo for next week..

Stairway to Blisters in NYC

On my last day in NY this week I just gave in to total shoulder destruction… I’ll heal another day… At least the rain stopped and it is absolutely gorgeous and sunny in Manhattan this morning.

Warm-up

– 14 GHD Situps
– 14 GHD Back extensions
– 10 kettlebell deadlifts 55lb
– 10 kettlebell swings 55lb

Strength

15-12-9 of Backsquats @ 135/185lb

WOD

15 rounds for maximum rep:
– 30 second pull-ups
– 30 second rest

SCORE: 121 Pullups Rx

Ouch. There is no way to avoid blisters with high reps. Period. One more thing to heal…

Cash Out

Dragging my 35# bag 20 city blocks to NY Penn Station. I lost my wheels on my bag and couldn’t get a cab as the city was in a security lockdown for traffic heading downtown…

Like deadlifts and ring work two days in a row… Great minds seem to think alike. That’s how Crossfit NYC had a workout crushing the same sore bodyparts that CF KOP wore out yesterday.

Muscling Up Deadlifts

On my way to NY I dropped in for my evening WOD and we made it another one to remember…

WOD

21 Deadlifts at 225lbs (Rx=275)
3 Muscle ups (jump)
15 Deadlifts 225#
6 Muscle ups (jump)
9 Deadlifts 225#
9 Muscle ups (jump)

TIME: 8:29

Even without muscle up lifting 225lbs 45 times is (what’s that word I’m looking for?) #*%&! Muscle ups just make it even more so… And then we come back tomorrow for more… Hey, that’s CrossFit Life.

Since the US eastern seaboard decided to adopt the monsoon season all trains are late. Flooding, wire down, the works… NYC maybe hours away tonight… One thing’s sure: I will be at Crossfit NYC at their first WOD tomorrow…

Fran’s Little Sister

Today was super busy with work and my daughter’s birthday so I couldn’t get to my CF box. I could settle in my home gym for a quick WOD. It’s amazing how big a timesaver intensity is!!!
