Harvard won the Battle 4 Atlantis and we also headed back home from Thanksgiving weekend. A quick turnaround of pick, pack and then I’m off to London tomorrow. I am sure there will be a chilly climate change coming up…

Atlantis 500

Well, the UConn Huskies lost last night in the Battle 4 Atlantis but the coaches still showed up at 630am in the gym like every other day. Hard not to be impressed!!
Due to massive winds there are dark blue waves the size of a house. Feels like Kauai. Surf’s up. Not that I’ve seen any surfers here. Ever. At least our lagoon is calm and protected…

I figured I’d have my own Battle WOD worthy of the tournament…

Battle for the Turkey

Thanksgiving and the all-you-can-eat buffet last night was a really bad combo. It seems many people were dead-set proving the Paleo-diet cult wrong by testing the carrying capacity of their plates and the insulin production of their pancreas. I saw one guy with 4 pumpkin pies, 3 slices of turkey and a modest hill of mashed potatoes on the same plate. Noone can be that hungry…
The Battle 4 Atlantis is well under way, my gym-buddy UConn Huskies beat UNC Asheville to go on to the semis…

Thanksgiving with Seagulls

As thousands of people descend on the island for Turkey-fest the gym also gets filled up. Beyond the college basketball team staff (still mostly UConn) now I got to see the occasional crossfitter. Not that we talk much, but it’s hard to miss people doing thrusters, burpees, kipping pull-ups and dumbbell swings back to back like a maniac. Yes, that’s us… Suddenly I started feeling more at home among the humming treadmills and huffing-puffing biceps curlers.

WOD “Mean 15”
3 rounds for time:
– 15 deadlifts 155lbs
– 15 burpees
– 15 dumbbell thrusters 35lbs
– 15 pullups

Beach Rest

Today is rest day. I went for a nice early morning run at Atlantis and saw half a dozen cruise ships sail out at dawn. All basketball teams have arrived for the Battle 4 Atlantis and I’m sure it will get really hectic over the next few days.
